3E//FIBER - LD FIBER PREPARATION, TESTING AND ANALYZING

Large Diameter Fibers (LD Fiber or LDF) are being used in several new technologies, like in fiber lasers or sensor applications. In the Fiber Lasers the fiber is used as active gain medium. Usually the fiber used here is either a rare-earth doped fiber or it has special construction.
The preparation and handling of LD Fibers (>200µm ) requires special tools and technologies. In this section we have together with our suppliers set up a variety of preparation and analyzing tools for different stages of LD fiber handling.

AutoCleaver-LDF

This easy to operate and fully automated high-precision fiber cleaver can be used on a variety of large diameter fibers ranging from 230 to 1000 μm in diameter.

AutoCleaver-LDA

This easy to operate and fully automated high-precision fiber cleaver is designed to produce flat and angled cleaves on large diameter fibers ranging from 230 to 1000 μm in diameter.

AutoCleaver S2

This modified version of the Nyfors automatic fiber cleaver is designed to cleave air-clad fibers. It provides outstanding cleaving performance on air-clad fibers between 125 and 1000 μm in diameter.

AutoCleaver S1

This automated fiber cleaving systems enables the operator to accurately determine a specific bare fiber length in the cleaving process.

LDS Large Diameter Splicing system

The 3SAE Technologies Large Diameter Splicing system provides capabilities that meet even the most demanding requirements. Powerful, high contrast optics, precision mechanical design, and extremely sophisticated image processing software allow for unmatched accuracy in aligning not only the position but also the relative pitch, yaw, and (optionally) rotation of each fiber for truly perfect alignment.

AutoStrip-II

The AutoStripII is designed for fast, chemical free window stripping of optical fibers. Utilizing our patented “burst technology”, it accomplishes the often difficult task of window stripping fibers with acrylate coating diameters up to 1,000μm. The AutoStripII meets the need for variable window strip lengths at high strength and ultra cleanliness.

CleaveMeter

The CleaveMeter MP1TM is a non-contact interferometer, which is used for examining the end face of optical fibers with a cladding diameter of 125 to 1200 μm.

Easily interchangeable moulds are available in various sizes to cover a range of coating diameters.
